I don’t remember where I put that purchase I need to return to the store. I know I bought a card for a friend, but I can’t send it, because I can’t find it. I am constantly using my watch to ping my phone.
Yes, I’m getting older. I am sometimes distracted, often busy. However, I’m getting my steps in because I’m walking in circles.
The Bible speaks a lot about remembrance. I was disturbed when I read in Jeremiah, chapter 2, how God spoke to Israel, how He remembered their kindness and love, and how they chased after him in the wilderness. Then they walked away and forgot Him.
“…What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me…” (Jeremiah 2:5)
Their clothes and shoes did not wear out. Manna fell from heaven to feed them every day. They had a cloud to shade them from the heat and fire to guide them and give them heat in the cold evening. Water came out of a rock in a dry and barren land. Did they forget?
What have you forgotten? Perhaps the time you were spared from a near-fatal accident? Groceries someone brought to you when you lost your job? The healing in your body? The unexpected check that came in the mail at the exact time it was needed?
What about the time you cried yourself to sleep, and God came and wrapped his arms around you? Or when he encouraged you to go ahead and face a fear, or delivered you from the bondage of ________, or gloriously filled you with His Spirit?
I must never forget His goodness and mercy, which He gives usevery day.
“And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place….” (Exodus 13:3)
“And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols….” (Ezekiel 6:9)
I don’t want to break His heart!
