Breach In Revival

Teresa Poucher

Last week we heard of two dams giving way in Michigan and causing 10,000 people to evacuate. Where to? With COVID-19, this caused a tremendous amount of stress.

It brought me back to August 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. There was a breach in the levy. This was a disaster, to say the least since New Orleans is under sea level.

To live in south LA at this period was quite an emotional season. So many lost loved ones as well as all they ever owned. Many were displaced from their homes, loved ones, and pets. The effects of this hurricane for some would prove to last a lifetime. All because of a breach…

2 Samuel 6:3 And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
4 And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.
5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
6 And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for hiserror; and there he died by the ark of God.
8 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he calledthe name of the place Perez–uzzah to this day.

According to Strong’s Concordance, the name Perez-Uzzah means “breach of Uzzah.” The ark had been stolen from Israel by the Philistines. The Philistines were plagued and sent the ark away. It stayed at least 20 years with Abinadab. Now David is King, and he wanted the ark back. He has 30,000 leaders rejoicing and it all came to a halt when Uzzah touched the ark, and God made a breach. This started as a great day, a day of revival. Then it all comes to a halt. Because of a breach.

David searches how to bring the ark back. The ark symbolized God’s mercy, presence, and power. Do we really think we can have this glorious presence and power if we have a breach?

David did bring the ark back. Only by obedience many sacrifices and praise.

My day starts with a cup of good coffee and a talk with Jesus. I started walking with Jesus when I was eighteen. That was In March 1979. I have fought many battles. No I haven’t won them all, but I have learned how to not only survive but thrive. Let me share with you...
